Anime is a Japanese abbreviation for the word “animation.” In many cases, anime is a reference to the unique type of animation which is found in Japan. Manga is the printed form of Japanese animation, while Anime refers to the “video” form of anime.

One of the biggest contrasts between anime, and normal cartoons, is the high quality of animation used in anime, but in addition anime is in general composed of darker and more mature themes.
